BNP Win a seat in the NW
Are we all to blame?
The BNP are now nearly a legitimate party. More press coverage for Griffin - he even looked like a victim because of all the business in Manchester last night.
I mean come on....the BNP as the Victims?!

Yes particularly the mainstream parties locally in the Northwest for not countering the BNP arguments and exposing them for what they are.
I never saw any mainstream party campaigning on the streets of Macc like the BNP did
Hi Mary,
We were out in Macclesfield Town Centre a few weeks before the election. We had two of the candidates with us, and were talking to shoppers about the expenses issue and whether they wanted a general election.
Most of our efforts were put into leafleting around the Constituency. Perhaps there's a case for doing less of this and more "active" hustings in public?
Are we all to blame?
Yes we are. In the North west almost 4 million people eligible to vote didn't do so. The BNP polled less votes than in 2004 and won a seat due to the collapse of the Labour vote and general apathy.
"He claimed for a second home so I won't vote for him; he claimed there was no Holocaust but I will vote for him." Sheer bloody madness. Where's my Anti Nazi League tee shirt?
Okay fair play Darryl but I counted a dozen BNP supporters leafleting and I am not sure whether you were able to garner that level of support. Ashamed to say my other half dropped me outside the polling station but refused to vote himself.
Do you think there is any chance of campaigners from the local mainstream parties putting their differences apart and campaign against the BNP in the future
PS darryl did you actually explain to people why they should not vote for the BNP when you were out campaigning
